Volunteer Week 16th May

Volunteer Week 16th May
16 May 2022

If you ask a local what it is that makes Bullsbrook great, chances are they’ll mention the strong sense of community.

That’s why this week is the perfect time to acknowledge the incredible contribution volunteers make to the Bullsbrook neighbourhood.

It’s National Volunteer Week - the biggest annual celebration of volunteering in Australia - and this year’s theme is Better Together.

Here are just a few of the ways locals are freely contributing their time, energy and talents to make Bullsbrook better together:

  • Managing youth groups and community activities for kids of all ages
  • Preserving local history and culture
  • Local landscaping and environmental conservation
  • Helping keep the community safe and healthy
  • Championing fitness and wellbeing
  • Teaching fundamental skills and teamwork
  • Hosting and organising community events and fairs

If you’re new to volunteering, there are plenty of great reasons to join the six million people across Australia who donate their time to community initiatives and not-for-profit organisations each year.

Volunteering brings like-minded people closer together, helping to build strong and resilient communities and a better society for everyone.

It’s critical in reducing isolation and loneliness, which is especially crucial for our community’s youth and seniors, and it can open the door to employment opportunities and help develop key life skills.

Not only does volunteering bear benefits for individuals, some of our community’s most valuable organisations and initiatives rely on the efforts of volunteers for many of their activities.
